Interplanetary Shock (or CME Arrival)
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG Location: Earth Event Time: 2024-12-31T15:44Z ( DSCOVR: PLASMAG ) Quality of ICME Signature: 2 (clear signatures) Note: Characterized by a significant jump in Bt from around 8.5nT->24.6nT, initially spiking to a southward Bz of -19.5nT before returning to a Bz around 0nT, this may swing as the arrival advances further. Solar wind speed has risen from around 360km/s -> 460 km/s and may increase further, alongside spikes in temperature and density. This signature is attributed to the arrival of one or more of: CME with ID 2024-12-29T01:23:00-CME-001, CME with ID 2024-12-29T06:24:00-CME-001, and CME with ID 2024-12-29T18:24:00-CME-001 expected on 2024-12-31 to early 2025-01-01, further analysis will follow.
